An important topic integral to the Upbeat Outreach approach is the power of positivity. Mike will take you on the journey of his life's past struggles as well as daily obstacles he overcomes through optimism.
The Upbeat Outreach experience can be life changing, especially for students suffering from anger and frustration. Classes and speaking sessions encourage mood development as a means of aiding and improving students' well-being and outlook.
Mike's motivation is this: Each of us has a disability. Everyone of us. In order to surpass it, we must look beyond ourselves to help one another, or we have nothing.
METHODOLOGY
From different types of drums and cymbals to drum heads and finishes, visual appearance often creates the spark in a student's choice to play these versatile instruments.
Partnering inspiration with the knowledge of the multitude of percussive instruments and the techniques used to play them is the pivotal composition in Mike's instruction. With the appropriate tools, a drummer is only limited by his imagination.
Mike learned early in his career, while watching and learning from other drummers and their techniques, that each musician's style varies, if only slightly. Mike motivates students to embrace their differences as a means of personal expression. Through Upbeat Outreach, a student learns to take advantage of his or her strengths and to look beyond any weaknesses.
WHO CAN BENEFIT
Upbeat Outreach is designed for all walks of life. All ages from children to adults, whether they suffer from a disability or not, can benefit from a session. There are no limitations to learning,
And Mike's students are not the only individuals who benefit. The mission of Upbeat Outreach is to impress students' parents, advisors, medical assistants, and teachers such that they can assist in the students' development.
Ultimately, Mike's goal is to reach as many people as he physically can if only to make a small change in the lives of his students.
